Aries New Moon Treasure Mapping

I read a really interesting astrology writeup last evening by Tracy Cook. It was about today’s Aries New Moon — an event that occurs once a year when both the Sun and Moon are conjunct (in the same degree of the same sign at the same time) in Aries.

Many astrologers and metaphysicians consider that the true  start of the new year — at least in a zodiacal sense — occurs not on 1 January when the Gregorian calendar changes, and not when the vernal equinox occurs (on or about 20/21 March), but when the Aries New Moon falls.

Anyway, the gist of Ms. Cook’s message was that each year the Aries New Moon is the perfect time to make a treasure map of what you want to manifest in your life in the coming 3-12 months.  This is because the Aries New Moon is the start of the new zodiacal year and Aries rules (among other things) new beginnings and  sight, so it becomes the perfect time for you to envision and out-picture what you want your life to look and feel like.  (Any New Moon is great for doing something similar for the next 28-day Moon cycle.)

And while the Aries New Moon is always a good time to make a treasure map for the coming year, owing to the transits that are forming for this particular Aries New Moon, it is an especially potent time to focus on the changes you want to bring into reality to improve the quality of your life.

I’ve used treasure maps for nearly 2 decades to focus intention on what I wanted to manifest in my life — whether that be a new home to live in, a car I really wanted, the perfect job, or the way I wanted a relationship I was in to feel.  Treasure maps are very helpful tools for manifestation work because to make one, you really have to dig down into your conscious and subconscious mind to figure out what it is you really want, and then you need to find ways of expressing that desire visually.

What is a treasure map & how does it work?

The quick answer is that a treasure map is a collage of images and words representing what you want to manifest.  If you are artistically inclined and can draw and letter nicely, you can do the entire treasure map by hand.  If you can’t draw to save yourself, you can obtain images, pithy quotes, and key words by looking through magazines, sales fliers, online images, and clip art in MSWord.  Once you locate what best expresses your vision, these images/words are either clipped out, photocopied, or printed.  When you have all the images and words you want to express the vision you are trying to manifest, either glue or tape them down onto a posterboard or a large sheet of paper.  Then place your completed treasure map in a location you can view it frequently so it will remind you of what you are manifesting.  To use it even more powerfully, do ceremony regularly with your treasure map.

Treasure maps work by intensifying your focus, and that helps anchor your vision into reality in a powerful way.  Much like a medicine bundle, a treasure map can jump start your manifestation work by giving it a focal point in the physical world that helps draw the energy of what you want to you.  It literally becomes the map that you follow to find the treasure you desire — whatever that thing or situation of value might be.

To take best advantage of today’s Aries New Moon for manifesting what you want in the coming year, don’t begin your map until the new moon actually arrives….which falls just after noon Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).  (Interestingly, I’ve seen no less than 3 different times given for the exact moment of the conjunction by 4 different astrologers:  12:05 pm, 12:06 pm, 12: 08 pm EDT, but that gets you into the ballpark.  You’d think Mercury was still retrograde given the disagreement on timing!)  Try to complete your treasure map in the first phase of the New Moon, which would fall between 12:05 pm EDT on March 26th and 12:24 am (EDT) on March 30th.  If you’re really stuck or really enjoying the creative exercise, you could continue working on the map up to the Full Moon on April 9th, but the energy will be most effectively used if you complete the map by the evening of the 30th.
